				Overview:

St. Luke's is recruiting for our widely known Nursing Apprenticeship Program (SNAP)!

This employment experience will provide you with the opportunity to expand your nursing knowledge and critical thinking skills while working in direct patient care alongside experienced nursing professionals.

SNAP is designed to provide a supportive, positive, acute care experience for students to apply critical thinking and nursing knowledge while functioning in the role of a nurse apprentice. The purpose is to build relationships, gain knowledge and exposure to the benefits of a nursing career at St. Luke's Health System. 

Two pathways to choose:

Positions could be unit-based, or float pool (travels to Twin Falls and Jerome Hospitals) 

Time Commitment:

Full time - May 2026 - July 2026 (10-15 weeks depending on what school you attend) 

Flex schedule - August 2026 - May 2027 (One-Two 12 hour shift a month until you graduate depending on what school you attend)

Program requirements: 

* Completed junior year of a four-year accredited baccalaureate program in nursing OR completed the 1st year of an accredited ADN College
* Letter from the Idaho State Board of Nursing verifying qualifications to function as a Nurse Intern. (Letter not needed until you receive an offer)
* Current AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support for Healthcare Providers certificate.

Career Pathing - Go from SNAP to STAR!

Once you have completed your first year as a SNAP, you would apply and interview for a New Graduate RN position and join our STAR Nurse Residency Program.  All new graduate RNs attend STAR Residency classes 1x a month for a year. This is a nice compliment to help you transition from a student nurse to successfully taking a full patient load.

Responsibilities:

The Nurse Apprentice, accepted into the St. Luke's Nurse Apprentice Program (SNAP), performs basic patient care procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse to support the unit/clinic health care team.

*  Performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. 
*  Assists in identifying patient needs and determining priority of care. Provides care to patients with conditions common to the unit/area of assignment. 
*  Documents information in patient record. 
*  Performs various direct patient care activities under the delegated supervision of a Registered Nurse and in alignment with validated competencies consistent with approved protocols, policies, and procedures. 
*  Communicates information with patient care providers and other staff members to facilitate patient care. 
*  Performs tasks and procedures as ordered by the provider under the delegated supervision of a Registered Nurse consistent with approved protocols, policies, and procedures. 
*  Performs tasks that require a unique body of knowledge and skills for that area of service. 
*  Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
*             Must be enrolled in an accredited school of nursing (ACEN, CCNE, or CNEA accreditations)
* Must have completed their 1st full year of an ADN program or the junior year of a BSN program.
* Experience: 0 years's experience
* Licenses/Certifications:
* Nurse Intern Letter from the State Board of Nursing. The Nurse Apprentice is able to remain in the Nurse Apprentice position following graduation while awaiting RN or GN Licensure or 90 days whichever comes first.
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
