Responsibilities:

The Nuclear Medicine Techologist will perform in-vivo studies and therapeutic and diagnostic imaging procedures according to written or transcribed verbal orders of a physician within the scope of his/her certification at all Dignity Health  Sacramento facilities according to established standards and practices. The incumbent will demonstrate competency for neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Technologists can be required to participate in the departments call schedule to ensure coverage weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Special Required Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of:Anatomy and physiology (to include cross sectional when required), medical terminology relating to nuclear medicine, principles of operation and care of nuclear medicine equipment, currently accepted diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, radiation safety requirements and practices for the operator, patient and public, film processing systems, mechanical and electrical safety practices and requirements in the patient examination environment, and preparation, use and hazards of radio pharmaceuticals.

Qualifications:

Requirements include the ability to:
* Perform general and specialized nuclear medicine procedures, which meetthe department's standard of quality
* Recognize and respond to allergic reactions and other life-threatening patient conditions which might arise during the examination process
* Effectively and empathetically deal with agitated, ill and uncomfortable patients
* Act courteously and with tact indealing with patients, visitors and the public
* Maintain patient confidentiality
* Claim and reassure distressed patients
* Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with physicians and hospital personnel
* Work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require
* Organize work assignments, maintaining accurate and complete records
* Maintain a high degree of accuracy regarding all details
* Work independently on-call covering all normal clerical and technical functions
* Assist co-workers and maintain constructive interpersonal relationships
* Participate in continuing nuclear medicine

Required Licensure and Certifications:
* Current Certification as aCertified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) or Registration as a NuclearMedicine Technologist from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists(ARRT(NM)).
* Venipuncture Certification 
* Current American Health Care BLS
