Overview: GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Network Engineer to work in a part-time telework capacity or from a structured office setting at an approved Commonwealth-owned facility in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This position requires candidates to reside within the Greater Harrisburg Area and offers a collaborative work environment focused on supporting edge network infrastructure across Commonwealth agencies. Occasional attendance at meetings, conferences, and overnight travel may be required. Responsibilities: * Install, configure, maintain, and manage network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, SD-WAN edge appliances, wireless infrastructure, and cellular-based appliances. * Monitor, test, verify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network problems using industry tools, collaborating with users, service providers, and business partners. * Assist in the planning and design of LAN/WAN architecture, including bandwidth analysis, capacity planning, and creating detailed schematic engineering drawings. * Execute planned network deployments and upgrades, supporting change management efforts. * Coordinate change management with agency and other edge networking teams. * Participate in ServiceNow and Remedy trouble ticket resolution, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate. * Provide Tier 2 support for widespread network events/incidents to customers and networking teams. * Evaluate current and future network needs, prepare technical solutions, and recommend emerging technologies. * Review and contribute to the development of configuration standards for network components. * Assist in designing complex networks and recommend optimizations for maximum efficiency. * Ensure all networks comply with Commonwealth security requirements. * Create and maintain Visio diagrams and documentation for network configurations and deployments. * Support remote IT staff, agency operations staff, and business partners with network-related issues. * Maintain working knowledge of routing protocols, network monitoring tools, and automation solutions. Qualifications: * 4-5 years of experience with network switching. * 3-4 years of experience with network routing. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from step ladders as needed. * Experience assessing and resolving complex technical problems. * Current PA driver's license and ability to operate motor vehicles. * Ability to obtain and maintain CJIS clearances.
