				Overview:

The Orthopedics Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital is a 22-bed unit that cares for a variety of ortho patients and is Joint Commission Certified in total hip and total knee replacements. We provide state of the art orthopedic procedures in Kearney, NE. The Medical Surgical unit is a 24-bed dedicated unit that cares for a variety of patients including general surgery, medsurg, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine. 

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Nebraska. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you'll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Responsibilities:

As our Nurse Navigator at Good Samaritan Hospital, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and their families/caregivers. 

Every day you will work directly with them and their providers to eliminate barriers to timely care, facilitate flow through the system, and facilitate interactions with the clinical care team.

To be successful in this role, you must function as a member of an interdisciplinary team to assess, secure and coordinate appropriate services and empower patients, families, and caregivers to assume as much responsibility for their care as possible, with the constraints of age, illness and other factors.

* Educate patients on preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative experiences. 
* Facilitate communication between all members of the health care team.
* Coordinate office visits across comprehensive care teams for continuity of care delivery.
* Enhance each patient's experience by staying involved- visiting patients at appointments, assessing their needs, and relaying relevant information to providers.
* Collect data for best practice and quality of care.

Qualifications:

Required

* Graduate of an accredited nursing program
* Active RN license in the state of Nebraska or compact RN license
* Three years of RN experience 
* Basic Life Support(BLS) through American Heart Association is required upon hire
