Shift: Monday-Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Robert Young Center is excited to offer a clinical practicum opportunity for PMHNP students seeking to enhance their skills in delivering high-quality mental health care. Under the supervision of the clinical preceptor (Licensed Psychiatrist and/or PMHNP) and administrative supervision of the Director of Outpatient Services, the PMHNP student works with patients across the lifespan in a variety of clinical settings to assess, diagnose, and manage mental health conditions.
Responsibilities:
* Develop proficiency in mental health assessments, psychiatric evaluations, and other clinical tools to establish accurate diagnosis.
* Build effective treatment plans with patients and their support systems.
* Learn how to implement evidence-based psychopharmacological treatments.
* Gain skills in psychotherapeutic techniques (cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing).
* Work collaboratively with a variety of healthcare workers such as psychiatrists, PMHNPs, nurses, therapists, and care coordinators.
* Document patient encounters accurately and maintain confidentiality per HIPPA and state mental health codes.
* Provide culturally sensitive care consistent with all ethical and legal standards, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.
* Develop the competencies required for degree completion and independent practice.
Qualifications:
* Currently enrolled in an accredited PMHNP program.
* Completion of foundational program coursework in advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology, and health assessment.
* Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Able to commit to the practicum schedule and clinical responsibilities.
