Are you enthusiastic about Christmas, people, and holiday spirit? Well, the Grand Canyon Railway is now hiring for THE POLAR EXPRESS! The Train Ride at Grand Canyon Railway's Historic Williams Depot is a LIVE, interactive event based on the film by Warner Bros, where we bring the movie to life!
About The Role!
The Mrs. Claus character brings warmth, sincerity, and authentic holiday joy to the Polar Express experience. As a key part of creating magical memories, Mrs. Claus engages with children and families in the Polar Room, contributing to a festive, safe, and high-quality experience for all passengers. This role helps capture the spirit of the season and enhances the overall magic of the Polar Express production.
We are casting for the Character role of Mrs. Claus, which is a full time seasonal position from 11/01/2023 to 12/31/2024, at the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams, Arizona.Mrs. Claus character is warm, sincere and full of authentic joy. Mrs. Claus helps to create magical memories and ensures safety and the quality of our passenger's experience for the duration of the Polar Express production.
Wage: $18.60 an Hour!
Schedule: (2 - 4 days a week minimum)

Responsibilities:
* Fully understand and support Xanterra's Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment and Core Values.
* Authentically portrays the Mrs. Claus Character role while greeting guests, reading Christmas stories aloud, and helping children write letters to Santa.
* Maintain a kind, professional, patient, and joyful demeanor, capable of engaging with children and adults of all ages, handling children and adults on a one-on-one basis or in large groups.
* Understand safety practices, including maintaining appropriate physical boundaries and responding to guest emergencies.
* Work alongside the cast and staff members to ensure a positive work environment and an exceptional/seamless experience for guests.
* Clean Biohazard as required.
* Maintains cleanliness and stock of supplies in the family activity area.
* Effectively handles stressful situations in a public setting and resolves guest related issues in a professional and timely manner, offering additional assistance to guests in need.
* Maintains schedule flexibility, working scheduled shifts to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Shifts are 6+/- hours per day.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
* Must have previous experience in public speaking.
* Must be open to performing in a live audience and maintaining a good stage presence.
* Must be able to demonstrate good and professional communication skills in a guest-facing role.
* Previous experience working with children in a professional, educational or volunteer setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience in theatrical role-playing.
* Customer service experience in the hospitality industry.

* Verbal comprehension (understand oral and written communication, follow detailed instructions).
* Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions).
* Reasoning skills (problem-solving and troubleshooting skills).
* Performance skills (ability to have vocal clarity, warm personality and strong presence).

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
*
* Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, speaking, standing, squatting/kneeling and lifting/carrying items up to 20lbs.
* Frequently walking, reaching outward, climbing, lifting/carrying items up to 50lbs and pushing/pulling items up to 25lbs.
* Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces and onboard moving train.
Costume Requirements:
Mrs. Claus costume is provided by the company and must be worn at all times while in character. Outerwear must be of solid black color with no visible logos or prints representative of any other organization, company or product other than Grand Canyon Railway or Xanterra Parks and Resorts.
