Overview: Monitor Technician UnityPoint Health QC Trinity - Rock Island IL Full Time Openings Shifts: 3rd: 6:45pm- 7:15am; 2nd: 3:00pm-11:00pm Every 3rd Weekend and Holiday The Monitor Technician's functions include observation, identification, documentation and communication of various cardiac rhythms. The Monitor Technician reports these changes to the patient's assigned nurse and responds to physician inquiries. Responsibilities: * The monitor technician observes the central station, telemetry monitors. * Contributes toward accomplishment of patient's Plan of Care goals by providing care activities as assigned by the nurse. * Demonstrates competence in the implementation/administration of age appropriate care in accordance with established Practice Guidelines, Policies/Procedures and State/Federal Law in regards to hygiene, nutritional, elimination, and activity measures as well as non-sterile/non-invasive procedures, oxygen setup, simple dressings, traction set-up, blood glucose testing, measuring and recording vital signs and non-sterile specimen collection. * Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient's care. * Promotes, monitors and maintains a safe clean environment by assisting with identifying safety needs of patients and modifying the environment to meet these needs, perform light housekeeping functions to maintain a clean, neat and orderly work/patient care area, adhering to established Universal/Standard precautions. * Provides for efficient operation of unit/department by taking initiative and assuming other responsibilities as needed. * Contributes effectively to the communication needs of the department by acknowledging patients, healthcare providers and visitors upon arrival to the unit, engaging in collaborative communication, identifying and reporting patient care concerns in a timely manner, practicing excellent telephone etiquette Qualifications: * Ability to perform ECG's, interpret cardiac dysrythmias and/or ECG pattern changes. Training or equivalent experience computerized order entry and general clerical functions via computer. On-the-job training necessary for monitor technician skills. * Previous medical/clerical experience with demonstrated proficiency is preferred. Basic computer skills preferred. Strong medical terminology and knowledge of cardiac drugs which affect the conduction system. * Should demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills. * Must maintain current CPR certification. *Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, internal equity, and other business needs. The salary range listed does not include other forms of compensation which may include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits that may be applicable to this role.
