Responsibilities:

Job Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of ICU/ED Nursing Staff the Ward Secretary/Monitor Technician (WS/MT) will; process physician orders including scheduling of tests and procedures; post and file all reports in the medical record; answer telephone lines and patient/visitor call system using appropriate communication skills. The WS/MT will also monitor cardiac rhythms read and mount strips in patient's chart.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

* High School graduate, GED or equivalent.
* One (1) year monitor tech/sard secretary experience.
* BLS
* Ability to read, speak and write English in order to perform duties of the position.
* Able to spell correctly and communicate well.
* Demonstrate the ability to handle stressful situations in the ICU/ED environment.
* Must pass the dysrhythmia interpretation competency exam with a score of at least 80% within three (3) months of hire.
* Ability to work as a team member, work effectively under multiple demands and adjust priorities as circumstances require to meet the needs of the department.
* Treat co-workers, physicians, patients/families, visitors and the public with dignity and respect.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff.
* Maintain patient confidentiality.
* Work a flexible schedule and be willing to work additional hours if needed for the provision of quality patient care.
* Able to sit for long periods of time.  Also able to stand, stoop and lift when needed.
* Have good manual dexterity, visual and auditory acuity.
