EO/AA This position provides messenger service to the hospital by transporting non-ambulatory patients, pharmaceuticals, medical records, lab specimens and blood bank deliveries. The incumbent also responds to various routine and emergency calls. This position may be required to transport medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law. Our five hospitals and eleven clinics provide excellence in our comprehensive services, medical advancement, and overall patient outcomes. Responsibilities: * Transfers patients from one hospital area to another. * Handles devices such as intravenous bottles, oxygen masks, oxygen tanks, urine drainage bags and blood bags, all of which could be attached to the patient during transportation. * Transports expired patients to the morgue on a stretcher. * Picks up and delivers medical records, pharmaceuticals, laboratory specimens, blood, other medical items, and mail. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities * Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. * Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills. * Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
