Responsibilities:
As our Mental Health Tech, you will be a vital support for Behavioral Health's front and back office functions, assisting psychiatrists, patients, and the care management team. You'll ensure smooth operations, quality medication management, and clinical problem-solving.
Every day, you will provide basic medication triage, support services, and take vital signs for behavioral health patients. You'll manage front office reception, patient registration, insurance/copay processing, and telephones, while also handling back office tasks like refill requests, injections, and accurate EHR documentation.
To be successful, you need strong multitasking, meticulous attention to detail, and a rapid ability to learn complex information accurately. Exceptional customer service, calm under pressure, EHR proficiency, and strict confidentiality are essential, along with flexibility to float.
* Assist with patient/family care needs from admission to discharge.
* Monitor patient on Q15 min. observations including (Q5, LOS, and 1:1 obs.)
* Accurately monitor and record patient VS and intake and output, and daily activities, including patio breaks.
* Assist Nurses with patient care to include Groups, Activities of daily living, as needed
* Must be able to effectively communicate with patients in crises and assist RNs with restraining patients
* Assist in maintaining adequate stocks and supplies.
This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement
Qualifications:
Required:
* High School Graduate or GED
* Minimum of one (1) year mental health worker experience working with psychiatric patients, either in an inpatient or residential setting
* Basic Life Support - CPR
* Fire Safety, within 90 Days
Preferred
* Minimum 1 year of acute patient care experience
* Certified Nursing Assistant: CA or
* Emergency Medical Technician: CA
