Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the manager Chief Technologist and Medical Director the Medical Technologist performs clinical testing in one of more of the following areas: blood bank chemistry serology hematology urinalysis coagulation special chemistry and/or microbiology.
* The Technologist obtains or receives specimens performs laboratory tests according to written procedures understands methods and principles performs and evaluates quality control on a daily basis and informs the Chief Technologist or Laboratory Manager of problems.
* The technologist performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation and interprets results as to their accuracy acceptability and critical limits and organizing work to meet established deadlines and record all data obtained.
* The technologist is also responsible for instruction of MT and MLT students.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
* Prefer at least two (2) years experience as Medical Technologist. May consider less experience for entry level position as determined by manager.
* B.S. degree in Medical Technology or related field of study.
* Able to work independently read and analyze technical material and to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
* Must be able to handle and process confidential information.
* Must demonstrate the ability to understand and practice unique infant/child adolescent and geriatric population differences and to effectively meet those needs as they related to patient handling specimen processing and collection.
* CT MEDTECH = Cert Medical Technologist.
* Must be licensed by the state of Nevada as a Medical Technologist General Supervisor national certification as MT (ASCP) or equivalent required generalist experience desirable with strong background in blood bank chemistry hematology coagulation microbiology/serology.
Preferred Qualifications:
* LIC CLT = Licensed Clinical Technologist with LIC MTGS = Licensed Medical Technologist General Supervisor preferred.
