As a Medical Office Assistant II, you'll perform advanced administrative and clinical support tasks such as managing patient scheduling, records, insurance processes, and basic clinical duties to ensure efficient day-to-day operations in a medical practice. Responsibilities:
Administrative & Front Office
* Greet and check in patients; verify identification and insurance.
* Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
* Answer multi-line phones and route calls appropriately.
* Manage patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations.
* Maintain and update patient records in the EHR system.
* Handle medical correspondence, referrals, and prior authorizations.
* Collect co-pays, process payments, and balance daily cash reports.
Clinical Support
* Take and record vital signs and patient histories.
* Prepare exam rooms and assist clinicians during minor procedures.
* Perform basic patient intake and documentation.
* Process lab orders, specimens, or diagnostic test requests.
Insurance & Billing
* Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
* Obtain pre-certifications and authorizations for procedures or medications.
* Manage claims follow-up, corrections, and documentation.
* Explain billing questions to patients.
Qualifications:
* Education: High School or GED, required. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program or a minimum of 2 year experience in a medical assistant role that included medication administration, required.
* Experience: Previous work in a medical clinic, preferred.
* Licensure/Certification: BLS/CPR (or earned within 90 days of hire), required. Annual UAP agreement with provider, required.
* Additional Skills/Requirements (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
