Responsibilities:
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will accurately analyze and report all tests ordered by the Medical Staff in a timely manner and according to laboratory procedures and regulatory guidelines to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Every day you will perform these Essential Functions:
* Perform and report waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens, adhering to standard operating procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
* Provide excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of critical values, and completion of testing within established turn-around-time limits.
* Ensure major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures, including contacting vendors for assistance or repair.
* Perform required calibration and quality control procedures; maintain records to ensure tests are within established parameters; and complete assigned proficiency testing.
* Assist in the evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for the validation of new procedures and equipment.
* Participate in continuing education and/or teaching and training opportunities to enhance technical skills of students, trainees, coworkers, and self, while adhering to all regulatory requirements and maintaining professionalism.
To be successful in this role, you will also:
* Complete all work and resolve or appropriately pass ongoing issues to incoming staff within the scheduled shift.
* Maintain accurate inventory of supplies, including monitoring, ordering, and storing received supplies.
* Represent CommonSpirit Health with professionalism and HumanKindness in all communications with physicians, hospital staff, patients, coworkers, and the general public.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelors Of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA, upon hire.
Preferred:
* International Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP-IMLS) upon hire Preferred or

* Chemistry - ASCP (CASCP) upon hire Preferred or
