Facility: East Cooper Medical Center

Location: Mount Pleasant, SC

Department: Clinical Lab

Position Type: Full Time

Work Schedule: 1st shift, Monday- Friday (Participation on the rotating weekend (every third) and holiday (two major per year) schedules is required.)

Responsibilities:

*  Testing - Performs processes associated with analytical testing of patient samples. Performs quality control testing to assure accuracy of patient testing. Performs equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Performs competency and proficiency testing to assure maintenance of skills.

*  Documentation - Maintains required documentation for all lab procedures. Processes requisitions for testing. Prepares and distributes reports. Utilizes appropriate LIS and/or other computer systems to perform daily tasks. Participates in implementation and compliance of regulatory standards.

*  Education - Successfully completes educational activities to continually improve skills and assists consultants. Performs all duties to satisfy regulations in preparation for inspections.

*  Customer Support - Provides information and consultation to requestors. Recognizes and promotes interdependencies with other areas.

*  Operations Management - Practices efficient use of supplies and materials. Participates in inventory of supplies and materials.

*  Strategic Planning - Participates in improvement of methods and processes.

*  Teamwork and Communication - Work within a team to achieve patient and team goals. Share and initiate regular and professional communication with co-workers. Participate in regular staff meetings. Participates in investigating problems and unusual situations.

*  Operational - Team member must possess sufficient motor skill and manual dexterity to obtain and manipulate specimens in a manner that does not endanger themselves and others.

*  Safety - follows and complies with all safety functions and guidelines including personal protective equipment, eyewash, fire extinguisher and other safety equipment. Practices safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.

*  Human Experience - Show courage through creating and sharing innovative ideas to improve the experience for both patients and peers. Model the service standards through consistently engaging in Always Event behaviors and view feedback through the patient lens. Recognize and value the unique differences and similarities in both our team members and patients to create an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated. Qualifications:

Education
2 Year / Associate Degree - Required
Associate degree in chemical, physical, or biological science, or medical laboratory or equivalent education or training OR successfully completed military training of 50 or more weeks.
Experience
One year experience as laboratory tech. (Clinical internships of twelve months duration meet this requirement).

Licensure/Certification
MLT certification (or eligible) from ASCP or AMT

Micro experience preferred
