Overview:
St. Luke's Health System in Boise, ID is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist 3 with previous blood bank experience to join our Cellular Therapy Laboratory team.
This is a unique opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) with a strong background in blood banking to join the Cancer Institute's Heme Malignancies program; a multidisciplinary care team providing patients throughout our region with stem cell transplants and cutting edge CAR-T therapies. This position will challenge you with specialized testing, product processing and cryopreservation, patient interaction, and exciting new treatments. You'll build on your blood bank experience and discover a new career in Idaho's only FACT accredited Cellular Therapy Laboratory.
Position Details:
* FTE: 0.7
* Schedule: The ideal candidate will have flexibility to work Monday-Friday and cover late afternoon product flow cytometry testing as needed. This position will be included in the cellular therapy lab's on-call rotation.

Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor of Science degree.
Experience: 4 years' experience.
Certification: Must have one of the following:
Blood Banking (ASCP_BB)
Chemistry (ASCP_C)
Cytogenetics (CYGT)
Hematology (ASCP_H)
Microbiology (ASCP_M)
Molecular Biology (ASCP_MB)
Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP_MLS or AMT_MLS)
Medical Technologist (ASCP_MT or AMT_MT)
Responsibilities:
The Medical Lab Scientist 3 is responsible for performing routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Handles complex issues and problems and possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A degree of creativity and latitude is required. Acts as a mentor/trainer/preceptor to all members of team.
* Tests specimens in an accurate, organized and prioritized manner following laboratory procedures and policies to ensure quality and time guidelines in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements.
* Collects a variety of specimens as required by specific section needs, with skill and sensitivity to needs of the patient.
* Ensures specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled and stored.
* Performs instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
* Provides mentorship & training to others.
* Maintains inventory of supplies.
* Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
* Follows department policy maintaining all necessary records and documentation.
* Ensures input is accurate and complete.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
