What you can expect from this role
* This program is a paid apprenticeship providing the education and skills necessary for a CMA career.
* It is an entry-level position requiring no prior MA experience and offers orientation to the duties and responsibilities of a medical assistant through on-the-job training in clinical rotations, classroom instruction, continuing education and four hours of paid study time weekly over the course of 7-8 months.
* Transportation and flexibility will be required as MA-Ts do rotations at various clinics within the Treasure Valley.
* Upon completion of the program, participants sit for a credentialing exam and become eligible for a CMA role.
* Individuals accepted into the MA-T program are hired as full-time employees and are expected to complete the program and then work for a minimum of one year in a full time CMA role at St. Luke's.
Qualifications
Education
* High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
* A minimum of six (6) months of healthcare experience, including but not limited to: Patient Specialist, CNA, phlebotomy, EMT, dental assisting, pharmacy tech, etc.
* Direct patient care experience preferred
Certification
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant 1 (Non-Credentialed) is responsible for assisting licensed independent providers with patient care. Works under close supervision and clearly defined policies and procedures.
* Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts.
* Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Sterilizes, cleans, and performs checks on medical equipment.
* Prepares patients for examination.
* Provides technical, clinical, and clerical support to licensed independent provider.
* Performs medical procedures within scope of roles and responsibilities.
* Assists licensed independent provider in patient exams and office procedures.
* Prepares basic laboratory tests on premises and prepares laboratory specimens.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
* Experience: 6 months experience
* Licenses/Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
