				Overview:

This program provides comprehensive, performance based, Base Operations Services (BOS) for the headquarters of a major customer in the community, located in the Ascension Islands. Support includes program management, workforce and security support services, logistics, environmental and occupational health, project management, operations, maintenance, repair, grounds maintenance and custodial services for the buildings, limited support to adjacent customer buildings, and all other locations on the island. The program requires a highly capable team to ensure mission-critical systems and environments operate efficiently and securely, supporting thousands of personnel in a dynamic and evolving environment.

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the planning, analysis, optimization, and oversight of mechanical systems supporting facilities across Ascension Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF). This role requires active participation in facility maintenance lifecycle management, sustainment planning, and performance analysis to ensure infrastructure reliability, compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and mission readiness. The Mechanical Engineer also serves as a Sub-Activity Management Plan (Sub-AMP) leader for HVAC and mechanical systems, contributing to long-term investment strategy, risk-based prioritization, and asset performance evaluations.

Responsibilities:

* Advise mechanical technicians in troubleshooting system malfunctions.
* Develop, implement and regularly review all mechanical preventative maintenance plans meet Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.
* Perform overall capacity management (maintain building calculations to manage supply available with loads required).
* Ensure building modifications comply with all code requirements and original design intent for the Customer's facilities.
* Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for mechanical, HVAC, and interior utility systems including cooling, heating, ventilation, and elevators.

* Provide technical guidance and lifecycle support across all stages: operation, maintenance, repair, compliance, recapitalization, and demolition.

* Evaluate and recommend repairs, upgrades, or replacements based on condition assessments, mission dependency, and asset lifecycle status.

* Support facility readiness through analysis of performance metrics, work order trends, and asset condition indices.

* Oversee assigned mechanical systems portfolio using BUILDER Sustainment Management System (SMS) and NexGen IT.

* Maintain up-to-date system inventories, perform condition assessments, and identify deficiencies affecting performance or compliance.

* Conduct site inspections, root cause analyses, and create technical solutions that align with performance targets and mission requirements.

* Participate in development of the Integrated Priority List (IPL) and support the Facilities AMP and Execution Plan strategies.

* Lead and coordinate sub-AMP working groups focused on mechanical systems for maintenance strategy and capital planning.

* Develop risk-based preventive and corrective maintenance plans for all mechanical infrastructure under scope.

* Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, standards, and Air Force policies including AFI 32-1001 and AFCEC guidelines.

* Support data integrity within BUILDER SMS by ensuring inventory accuracy, performing timely condition assessments, and resolving discrepancies.

* Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting on asset conditions, significant infrastructure events, and investment opportunities.

* Coordinate closely with facility managers, operations shops, engineering team members, and the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).

* Support planning meetings, reviews, and briefings, and communicate technical recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

* Provide input to work task prioritization, work request packages, and the development of cost estimates and scopes of work.

* Perform other related engineering tasks or assignments as directed by the COR, Site Lead, or Engineering Flight to meet mission support objectives or respond to emergent infrastructure issues.

Qualifications:

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

* Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET Accredited University with at least five (5) years' experience in construction or facility maintenance
* Professional Engineer (PE) registration in one of the 50 U.S. States, U.S. Territories or Possessions.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in facility maintenance, operations engineering, or construction management related to HVAC and mechanical systems.
* Experience with BUILDER SMS and/or NexGen IT preferred.

* Familiarity with preventive and corrective maintenance planning, sub-AMP or asset management principles highly desirable.

Security Clearance Requirement:

* Must have or be able to obatain Secret Clearance.
Skills & Competencies:
* Strong analytical skills for facility and infrastructure assessments.

* Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation.

* Strong organizational and project management skills.

* Knowledge of applicable safety standards and engineering codes.

* Competency in using MS Office Suite and engineering tools (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar a plus).

* Ability to work independently on a remote island environment and contribute within a team.
