Overview:
You will be part of Enterprise Mobile Computing (EMC), a world-class industry leader in mobile computer products (Handheld, Tablet & POS, Wearables), covers the industry (Healthcare, Retail, transportation & logistics, Manufacturing, Hospitality and Field Service), under the Enterprise Visibility and Mobility Business of Zebra Technologies, Inc.
Designs and analyzes products for cosmetic and functional housing, internal components, and development, including evaluation of existing standard parts, equipment and packaging. Verifies designs using CAE, manual methods, and functional test. Designs and performs experiments for verification analysis.
Responsibilities:
* Establishes requirements for highly complex mechanical design projects and may lead a team responsible for establishing requirements. Insure correct features are incorporated first in the projects. Insures correct features are incorporated first in the projects
* Architects and designs highly complex mechanical projects. Completes all phases of the projects. Follows through on all in-process and final inspection activities
* Develops and applies technical and quality improvements
* Creates new programs, technologies and solutions based on novel or unique ideas. Insures new ideas and methodologies are documented for use by software teams
* Uses status as a knowledge leader in mechanical design and functional knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines and program management to provide technical leadership to a given program
* Defines requirements for and may design complex new tools to aid in the analysis and solving of complex problems
* Initiates cross-company collaboration and develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines
* Exercises judgment (within broadly defined policies and practices) in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
* May coordinate the activities of other personnel
* Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Represent the organization as the principal customer contact and often performs project leadership
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related, with 8+ years working experience; Master's degree is a plus.
* 5+ years of industry experience in product development for portable, battery operated electronics (smartphones, tablets, notebooks, wearables).
* Direct Experience with ODM/JDM models of product development and leads ODM/JDM ME team on internal design meetings to plan design or design review activities.
* Skilled Experience on CAD (e.g. Solidwork, Creo), Tolerance Analysis (TA). Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Tooling Experience is a plus.
* Designs complex test experiments. Oversees execution of test experiments and reviews results.
* Responsible for QTP results and work with QA to ensure that new product meets test specifications and criteria.
* Understands customer needs and reflects those needs in design work.
* Develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines and other functions, such as system engineer, Electrical engineer, RF engineer and manufacturing, and marketing to support client needs and assists to complete the scope of work (SOW) / PRD / NRE based upon custom product requirements..
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* In addition to speaking fluent Chinese or Mandarin, it would be key to have the ability to converse& write well in English.
