Overview:
The Garage Mechanic performs a variety of skilled mechanical work on all types of diesel and gasoline vehicles and equipment to include large transport trucks.
Responsibilities:
* Make minor repairs or replacements of water pump, starters, thermostats, alternators and other mechanical components.
* Troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions.
* Replace or recondition air type brakes
* Perform minor welding.
* Maintain an accurate invoice of repairs.
* Assorted cleaning within the Garage area.
* Physical requirements include:
* lifting up to 32 pounds,
* Frequent reaching overhead, bending, squatting, pushing and pulling,
* Trucks are elevated by floor level air jacks, requiring getting up and down frequently from a sitting or lying position.
