Overview: Ultrasound Technologist/Sonographer Maternal Fetal Medicine $10,000 Sign-On Bonus Monday-Friday, Daytime Hours Flexbile on shift - open to 0.6 (3 days/week) to 1.0 (5 days/week) apply to discuss The clinic sonographer is required to operate and maintain specialized ultrasound equipment used in performing detailed fetal evaluations and procedures. The sonographer should provide education to families while evaluating the fetus in real time, showing compassion and being sensitive to families, many of whom are frightened about the fetus, mother, or both. The sonographer will assistant the physician and clinical teams in history taking and presentation of complex cases to the physician, interpretation of the technical aspects of the completed examination, and performance of invasive fetal procedures. Responsibilities: Perform diagnostic ultrasounds while providing proper explanation of procedures to patients, their families, and others as needed to ensure the patient understands the examination to be performed * Be proficient in performing the following ultrasound studies: * Transabdominal and transvaginal * Detailed fetal evaluation * Fetal Echocardiography * Nuchal translucency and nasal bonus * Multiple gestations * Fetal Doppler interrogation * Diagnose and analyze fetal anomalies in partnership with the physician * Diagnose and analyze fetal growth disturbance * Maternal uterine artery Doppler interrogation * Maternal general abdominal/pelvic evaluation * Adnexa * Renal * Liver & gallbladder * Assist MFM physician in: * History taking and presentation of complex MFM patient cases to the physician * Interpretation of the technical aspects of the completed examination * Performance of invasive fetal procedures * Practice sterile technique and prevent cross contamination * Travel to outreach clinics as needed * Assist in the transfer of patients to and from the examination table and operate proper immobilization devices for positioning or transporting as required * Be aware of what is happening in clinic/department and the organization by attending clinic/department meetings, reading emails and regularly checking information on the organization's intranet site Qualifications: * Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) * Registered or eligible for certification by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Ob/Gyn * Fetal echocardiography certified or willing to pursue certification shortly after starting * Nuchal Translucency & Nasal Bone Certification is required after 1 year in the office * Mandatory reporter certification * CPR certification
