Receive incoming materials, supplies and equipment by inputting data into computer system and preparing receiving documents. Distributes incoming shipments to ordering departments and verifies records for each receipt. Process and maintain records for all inbound and outbound shipments.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Material Handler at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

* Counts, checks and verifies items received against the Bill of Lading, manifest, packing slip and / or purchase order. Inspects incoming shipment for damages. Print receiving document and attach to shipping document prior to delivery to end user. Delivers to remote locations weekly or arrange special transportation if a delivery is required. Obtains signature to verify receipt of supplies and / or equipment. Prepares manual Receiving Report for any supply or equipment not on a purchase order. Note in logbook. Counts, weighs and packs items to be shipped out. Verifies vendor shipping address and attach Bill of Lading and / or return forms. Handling of Priority Shipments: Outbound: Ensures priority overnight packages are prepared and picked up by carrier the same day. Inbound: Receive, enter receiver and either deliver or notify recipient of priority package.
*  Enters actual quantities received and any applicable notes into the HEMM system accurately and timely. Enters return into HEMM. Records other information in the HLS Tracking System and/or manual log, noting date returned, carrier used and quantities returned. Enters all issues and returns from the Bulk Area. Completes all filing of packing slips and computerized generated receiving document. Assists in reconciling discrepant invoices by pulling documentation. 
* Stock is put away in storeroom and bulk area(s) maintaining the appropriate bin locations. Fills requests for items inventoried in the Storeroom. Maintains clear work environment by stacking and removing empty pallets and cardboard boxes. 
*  Notify Biomedical department for all patient care equipment or Corporate Facilities for other equipment requiring an electrical check. Affixes JFK asset property tag(s) on capital equipment and / or gives asset tag to specific department manager. Operates and maintains power and other equipment within department guidelines and safety policy and procedures. All moveable equipment is properly stored and secured at the end of every day 
* Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 
*  Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

* High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. 
* Must have basic computer skills and be proficient in using materials handling equipment including pallet jack and hand truck 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

* Minimum of 1 year receiving, storeroom, shipping or general warehousing experience.
