Type: Full-Time
Overview: Join our exciting team at Keurig Dr Pepper, a leading producer and distributor of hot and cold beverages. The Manufacturing Facility & Line Design Engineer plays a critical role in the design, optimization, and long-term development of our manufacturing network. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining facility and production line layouts, supporting strategic decisions regarding equipment placement and future expansion, and establishing accurate and accessible CAD documentation across our manufacturing facilities. This role will partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and project teams to translate manufacturing requirements into practical facility and line designs. The individual will support both current capital projects and longer-term network planning by evaluating how new production lines, equipment, infrastructure, material flows, and supporting operations integrate within existing facilities. A key responsibility of this role will also be establishing and maintaining a single, reliable source of truth for facility and production drawings, ensuring CAD files and associated documentation are accurate, organized, controlled, and readily accessible to teams across the organization. Travel This individual will travel primarily to North American operations, up to 50% of weeks. Responsibilities: Manufacturing Facility & Line Design * Develop and maintain manufacturing facility master layouts, production line layouts, and equipment arrangement drawings. * Create layout concepts for new production lines, equipment installations, capacity expansions, relocations, and facility modifications. * Translate equipment, process, operational, material flow, and infrastructure requirements into coordinated facility designs. * Evaluate alternative equipment and line configurations to identify layouts that best support operational efficiency, safety, maintainability, accessibility, and future flexibility. * Support early-stage project development by determining where and how new manufacturing equipment can be incorporated within existing facilities. * Partner with technical SMEs to incorporate utility, structural, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, controls, and other infrastructure requirements into overall facility layouts. * Participate in design reviews throughout project development and execution to maintain alignment between approved layouts and final installations. Network Layout Strategy & Optimization I would make this its own section because I think it elevates the position beyond a drafting function. * Support development of a long-term manufacturing network layout strategy that considers current operations, future growth, capacity expansion, and facility constraints. * Evaluate plant layouts holistically to identify opportunities to improve space utilization, material and people flow, equipment accessibility, operational efficiency, and future expansion capability. * Develop conceptual layouts and scenarios that enable leadership and project teams to compare alternative manufacturing strategies before significant capital commitments are made. * Help identify physical constraints, dependencies, and infrastructure considerations early in project development that may influence site selection, project scope, cost, or schedule. * Maintain forward-looking facility concepts that provide visibility to how planned investments may affect future expansion opportunities. CAD Drawing & Documentation Ownership The original description already has a strong foundation here, particularly its expectation to maintain drawings and a controlled database. But I would strengthen this significantly because it sounds like you want governance, not simply someone who can produce drawings. * Create, modify, and maintain accurate 2D and/or 3D CAD drawings for manufacturing facilities, production lines, equipment arrangements, and associated facility infrastructure. * Establish and maintain standardized CAD drawing practices, naming conventions, revision control, templates, and documentation requirements. * Own the organization and governance of facility and production layout documentation across the manufacturing network. * Establish a structured repository that provides teams with a reliable single source of truth for current facility and line drawings. * Ensure drawings are updated following capital projects, equipment relocations, line modifications, facility changes, and major infrastructure modifications. * Coordinate with project teams, vendors, OEMs, engineering firms, and site teams to collect final drawings and incorporate changes into master facility documentation. * Improve the accessibility of drawings so Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and project teams can reliably locate current information when needed. * Establish processes for drawing turnover and as-built documentation at project closeout. Capital Project & Engineering Support * Provide layout and facility-design support across multiple capital projects simultaneously. * Develop conceptual layouts during early project development to help determine project feasibility, scope, and potential alternatives. * Support equipment placement and line configuration decisions using dimensional requirements, operational needs, service clearances, material flow, infrastructure requirements, and future expansion considerations. * Collaborate with equipment suppliers, OEMs, engineering firms, contractors, and internal engineering resources to integrate equipment designs into facility layouts. * Review vendor and engineering drawings for alignment with approved plant and line layouts. * Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and project planning sessions. * Support project teams during installation and commissioning when field conditions require layout or drawing modifications. Standards & Continuous Improvement * Develop and maintain standards for manufacturing facility layouts and production line documentation. * Promote consistency in drawing quality, file management, revision control, and project documentation across sites. * Incorporate lessons learned from completed projects into future facility and line design standards. * Support development of engineering standards related to equipment spacing, accessibility, maintainability, safety, and facility integration. * Identify opportunities to improve the tools, processes, and technology used for facility visualization and manufacturing layout planning. It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment. An employer who violates this law shall be subject to criminal penalties and civil liability. Responsibilities: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. * 5+ years of experience developing production line, manufacturing facility, or industrial equipment layouts. * 5+ years of experience creating and maintaining CAD drawings within manufacturing or industrial environments. * Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD or comparable industrial CAD software; experience with 3D design tools is strongly preferred. * Demonstrated experience translating equipment and manufacturing requirements into practical facility layouts. * Working knowledge of manufacturing infrastructure and utilities sufficient to coordinate requirements with engineering SMEs. * Understanding of equipment clearances, access requirements, maintenance considerations, material flow, and industrial facility constraints. * Strong technical documentation, drawing management, and organizational skills. * Experience supporting capital projects from conceptual design through installation and project closeout. * Ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Sa
