Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the management of the Telecommunications and Laundry/Linen Departments. The incumbent is responsible for the management and supervision of the Telecommunications department personnel with regard to labor relations, recruitment/retention, training, development, performance evaluation, staffing/scheduling, progressive discipline as appropriate and technical assistance. This position will be responsible for team development through leadership collaboration and supporting department/organizational mission, vision, and objectives as well as monitoring/managing quality, customer satisfaction, productivity and resources. The incumbent will develop, maintain and provide oversight for departmental objectives, policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Responsibilities also include:
* Manage and oversee the hospital's Emergency Preparedness and Environment of Care plans and programs in order to maintain a safe environment for patients and personnel.
* Assess and monitor compliance with Joint Commission, CDPH, OSHA, EPA, hazardous materials, emergency response standards, and other regulatory agencies.
* Communicate Environment of Care and Emergency Preparedness information to management staff, supervisory staff, physicians and employees.
* Represent hospital in coordination with community and regional based agencies.
* Recommend courses of action for managing Environment of Care and Emergency Preparedness concerns and problems.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
* Minimum of two (2) years experience required in a supervisory/management level position of an ancillary/support services program in a hospital or health system.
* Minimum of two (2) years experience required supervising/managing an emergency management/safety/security program.
* Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or Emergency Management required.
* Certification for ICS/NIMS and HICS within six months of hire required
Special Skills and Training:
* Experience in employee relations, working with a collective bargaining agreement, managing people and processes in addition to identifying and resolving operational issues. Experience with overall program management including design, implementation oversight and maintenance of policies and procedures. Ability to research, evaluate, and analyze new techniques, methods, and procedures. Experience in regulatory compliance, threat assessment, comprehensive contract bid reviews and implementation and productivity analysis. Experience with statistical analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data. Knowledge of business and management principles including budget control and accounting principles as related to service line purchasing and management reporting. Experience with critical incident coordination, evaluation and project management. Experiencing in identifying learning needs as well as providing education and training designed to support a learning organization. Working knowledge of functional relationships between departments within a healthcare or similar environment. In depth knowledge of TJC, CMS, OSHA, NFPA (Life Safety, etc.) and all federal and state agency regulations and standards. Demonstrated competence with personal computers, networks, and Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently on a broad variety of projects which include obtaining pertinent facts, conducting thorough analysis to draw evidence-based conclusions.
* Ability to exercise judgment, sensitivity, and creativity in response to shifting priorities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with particular ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with other to secure necessary information and cooperation from a variety of people. Must have strong analytical skills Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to present ideas and concepts effectively. Exercise self-control and resiliency and demonstrates commitment to high ethical standards. Demonstrates initiative and judgment to handle responsibilities independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrate ability to analyze problems and issues from a variety of perspectives and identify processes necessary to accomplish objectives. Organizes work so it is executed efficiently and effectively through strategic planning, problem solving, and organizational skills.
* NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 course compliant. Operations level trained for hazardous material handling.
Preferred:
* Five years (5) preferred in a supervisory/management level position of an ancillary/support services program in a hospital or health system.
* Five (5) years experience preferred of supervising/managing an emergency management/safety/security program.
