Overview: Manager Regional Team Member Health and Safety Shift: Days, 8a-5p, Full-time Location: Onsite in Waterloo, Marshalltown, or Cedar Rapids, IA area (requires travel between these markets) Team Member Health & Safety (TMHS) will help our team members do what they love by relentlessly pursuing prevention of illness and injury by partnering with our team members to promote a culture of healthy and safe behaviors, creating an easy, team member centered experience and ensuring excellent, team member centered care after injury or illness. The Regional Manager for Team Member Health & Safety is responsible for carrying out this vision for their region of UnityPoint Health. Responsibilities: Performance Improvement * Lead Team Member Health & Safety activities for UnityPoint Health in the region by: * Pursuing prevention of illness and injury. * Partner with leaders and team members to build a culture of healthy and safe behaviors. * Create an easy, team member centered experience. * Ensure excellent, team member centered care after injury or illness. * Increase quality, improve service, and reduce costs within the department. * Implements, administers, and maintains processes to ensure standardization and efficient operations. * Analyze and evaluate existing systems and process to identify opportunities to identify efficient activities while promoting team member health and safety. * Promotes, improves, and maintains team member health and safety. * Accountable for region's compliance with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, DNV, CMS, State Workers' Compensation division. * Coordinates team member injury statistics, analyzes trends and pursues solutions to prevent further injury. * Create and deliver team member health and safety presentations as assigned. * Provide direction to ensure programs and services comply with highest of UPH standards for both health and safety. People Leadership and Management * Oversees day to day operations of the Team Member Health & Safety (TMHS) teams within the applicable region to ensure achievement of organizational and departmental goals * Balance team and individual responsibilities; be open and objective to other's views; give and welcome * Lead the TMHS team using UPH Leadership Essentials - Know and Show they matter, Lead the way, coach and grow, make it happen. * Ensures assigned function(s) in the TMHS Department are performed in accordance with federal, state and/or hospital requirements. * Schedules and monitors new staff orientation and ongoing education for successful job performance. * Conducts annual performance appraisals for assigned team members. * Ensures departmental policies and procedures and job descriptions are current. * Monitors FTEs, operational and capital budget for the department. * Investigates budget variance and initiates corrective actions when necessary. * Provides guidance to the organization on matters related to protected health information management. * Supervises team by motivating, mentoring, coaching, and providing guidance to team to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services. * Facilitates the ongoing learning, well-being, professional satisfaction and development of staff through training, work assignments, increased responsibility, and mentoring. Qualifications: Education: * Bachelor's degree Experience: * 2 years of progressive leadership experience * Previous experience in employee safety programs required. Licenses/Certifications: * Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, web browser * Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English * Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgments * Possess initiative and ability to work independently * Strive to be the best, and work continuously to improve performance and exceed expectation * Have pride in finding new and better ways to enhance quality of care
