The Manager, Grants  plays a vital role in securing funding for HMH Foundation's critical initiatives. Reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Giving, the Grants Manager will manage a portfolio of current and prospective funding partners. The Grants Manager will build and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, identify and pursue grant opportunities, and develop compelling proposals that result in increased investment in HMH's mission.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Manager, Grants at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

* Develop compelling grant proposals to foundations and corporate foundations, including budget narratives. 
* Collaborate with clinical, research, and fundraising staff to conceptualize proposals and ensure compliance. 
* Gather required data and written materials to support proposals and applications, working closely with HMH corporate offices (Finance, Office of Research Administration, Legal, etc.). 
* Research and identify philanthropic and public grant opportunities using grants databases, monitoring relevant websites, publications, and RFP announcements. 
* Share new and emerging grant opportunities with appropriate HMH administrators, clinicians, and scientists.
* Coordinate and facilitate internal and external working groups involved in proposal/program design. 
* Contribute to the Institutional Giving and Grants Management team's long-range planning for funding opportunities, donor cultivation, and stewardship practices. 
* Support project meeting strategies to ensure alignment with philanthropic goals and objectives. 
* Ensure grantee compliance for all projects in the portfolio, including developing and submitting reports. 
* Implement and maintain a comprehensive grants tracking system. 
* Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
* Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
* Minimum of three years of experience in fundraising, with an emphasis on grant writing. 
* Proven track record of securing foundation, corporate, and experience with medical and/or research grant. opportunities, preparing required materials, writing compelling narratives, and developing project budgets. 
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies. 
* Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines. 
* Ability to handle information ethically, accurately, and confidentially. 
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms. 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

* Experience in a healthcare environment or related field involving grant seeking and relationship management.
* Proficiency with Google Workspace.
* Experience with Raiser's Edge or other fundraising/CRM software. 
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
* Commitment to continuous improvement of work processes and outcomes.
