Responsibilities:
About the Opportunity
Our Ellucian Grants Services team seeks a talented grants professional to join our team, focusing on helping our customers create and sustain a grant-seeking culture. This is a customer-facing role where your attention to detail, experience, and expertise will support and lead the delivery of high-quality services to our customers. We seek a motivated contributor with strong skills in all phases of the grants life cycle and experience in managing people and multiple and competing deadlines in a highly active grants environment. You will be the thought leader in helping institutions strategically plan for grants development and execute that plan for maximum results. Where you will make an impact:
* Manage and oversee team members as they deliver the full range of activities required to prepare and submit grant proposals to Federal, State, and foundation sources
* Serve as the customer engagement manager and primary point of contact for institutional leaders
* Conduct meetings and discussions with institutional leaders focusing on strategic aspects of grants development and management efforts
* Maintain frequent communication with institutional contacts on grants development and management activities through conference calls, site visits, and written reports
* Ensure the development of the institutional grants strategy and services delivered are in alignment with the Statement of Work
* Assess resources needed to complete grants development and management activities, and communicate resource allocation plans with the Director and assigned team members
* Ensure all deliverables are completed accurately and timely, including proposals, customer reports, and internal assignments
* Develop and maintain a strong and trusting relationship with customers
* Serve as a thought leader in grants development and management for customers and the greater Ellucian
* Support the sales effort through the generation of customer referrals and references, and assist in educating sales and others about Ellucian Grants Services
* Develop and deliver grants training as needed and as stipulated in the agreement with institutional partners
* Complete required managerial tasks timely and in accordance with Ellucian policies and processes
* Participate in frequent internal communication, including weekly team meetings, weekly one-on-one meetings with the manager, and timely submission of weekly timesheets and internal and external activity reports
* Recommend improvements in process, training to address gaps in knowledge, and other team needs to elevate performance or grow services
* Support the Ellucian Grants Services team by working with the full portfolio of partner institutions as needed
* Serve as team leader and mentor by demonstrating expertise in a variety of areas, including grants functions encompassing pre- and post-award activities, customer relationships, and Ellucian solutions
* Initiate special projects that advance team growth, efficiencies, or services and align with Ellucian goals
* Provide mentorship to new and existing team members seeking to advance their skills and knowledge
* Model a professional attitude and behavior consistent with Ellucian policies and values
What you will bring:
* Knowledge of all aspects of the grants lifecycle: organizational development (policy and process, strategic planning); funding research; applications and proposals; and compliance monitoring
* Knowledge of higher education functions and operations
Strong grant writing skills and written communication skills; ability to develop clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies
* Ability to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines and contribute to overall team success
* Understanding of the consultant/customer relationship
* Ability to communicate at all levels of the company and the institution
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Ability to conduct virtual meetings with partner institutions via technology tools, such as Zoom
* Ability to work remotely, including planning and carrying out work assignments effectively and efficiently without direct supervision
* Ability to travel to client sites for meetings and business development activities
* Availability during regular business hours with the flexibility to work as needed during nights and weekends as deadlines require
* Bachelor's degree, master's preferred
* Minimum of ten years of experience in grants development and management, with at least seven of those years in a higher education environment
* Experience with proposal writing and submissions to diverse funding sources
* Successful track record in grant awards
* Experience working in deadline-driven environments
Strong track record of establishing professional working relationships with customer institutions and communicating at all levels of the organization
* Required Information for Submission
* Three to five-page writing sample, preferably from a grant written by the applicant
* List of funded grants within the past five years
