The Position:  

The role involves managing engineers and technical staff in the research, design, and development of cutting-edge technologies and prototypes for hardware and software. The position may oversee the work efforts of multiple team members, including those reporting through a matrix organization structure aligned with their core competency departments. The responsibilities include consulting with managerial personnel to clarify product requirements, identify and address challenges, recommend changes, and define the required functionality. The role demands leadership in fostering innovation, ensuring project alignment with organizational goals, and driving the successful realization of new technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

Key Skills & Responsibilities 

* Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

* Knowledge of CI/CD processes and functional aspects of modern development tools (e.g., Git repositories).

* Ability to build and lead self-sufficient, cross-functional teams (Development, Testing, Operations).

* Drive accountability and ownership across teams.

* Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and adaptability to changing priorities (e.g., JIRA).

* Skilled at multi-tasking and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.

* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and drive outcomes.

* Strong project management capabilities.

* Proven ability to plan and ensure timely completion of multiple projects, including oversight of budgets and resources.

* Ability to establish clear goals, scope, approach, schedules, and manpower to accomplish organizational objectives.

* Can operate effectively with general guidance from senior management, while independently determining best approaches to achieve results.

* Experienced in cross-functional collaboration, handling crucial conversations, and maintaining mutual respect with subordinates and peers.

* Skilled in evaluating and analyzing administrative or business problems and resource allocation.

* Ability to direct and coordinate teams in developing solutions to technical challenges requiring deep investigation and clarification.

* Manages and directs department activities, assigning, coordinating, and reviews work of subordinates, to design new product prototypes and evaluating existing designs.
* Analyzes technology trends to identify new product ideas.
* Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine feasibility, cost effectiveness and customer demand for new and existing products.
* Participates in forecasting operating costs of department and performs preparation of budget requests.
* Administers personnel functions, including recruiting, review and selection and placement of personnel.
* Plans and establishes schedules and follows up performance against estimates.
* Provides technical or administrative consultation or advice to peers or the immediate manager in the department, product line, or on projects.
* Makes or reviews decisions regarding technical approaches or product designs with staff input considering resource allocation and time schedules for product or department activities.
Bonus Skills
* Understanding of Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).

* Familiarity with DevOps principles and building self-sufficient teams.

* Exposure to Operational Support with knowledge of Incident Management.

Qualifications:

* Minimum 6 years of related work experience, preferably in cabin avionics. In-flight entertainment highly preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing and development environment.
