Responsibilities:
Higher education customers are transforming to modern campuses while leveraging technology and solutions to enable student success. We are seeking for Manager, Cloud Engineering to join our ERP Production Operations team to help drive the modernization of the Ellucian applications to enable a true SaaS experience. You will Manage a team of system administrators and engineers to support daily operations with a focus on
reducing manual work.
This is a critical role that will support deployments for Ellucian's largest SaaS SIS and second largest SIS. You will collaborate with other internal teams within Cloud and R&D to drive improvements in operations and monitoring with a focus around uptime, improving customer experience and strategic relationships ensuring all teams deliver high quality work on schedule in a metric-based work environment. Individual will mentor team members, initiate process improvements, manage performance and inspire each team member to achieve success. Should have worked in an agile environment with technical expertise in an environment supporting a linux-based application with both transactional, ticket-based work and monitoring/automation.

Where you will make an impact
* Overall responsibility for daily transactional work including top tier system administration support
* Monitoring and reporting on work delivery against established internal and external SLAs
* Drive a team with a DevOps culture towards improved overall service through the development of solutions to common problems through automation and code-defined processes
* Drive adoption and enhancements to Ellucians monitoring platforms
* Improve on-call and incident resolution times by designing and implementing automatic recovery solutions
* Participate in Problem Management with a focus on uptime impacting issues
* Collaborate with other Cloud teams to ensure customer success
* Understand, simplify, and automate process to improve systems and reduce toil
* Act as a mentor for other Ellucian colleagues by:
* Training workshops on Cloud Operations best practices
* Driving visibility into the environment
* Participating as a subject matter expert on process improvement, training, and tool development.
* Leadership and management of day to day operations for the Engineering team
* Be hands-on in high level work with the team and provide systems architecture guidance and advice
* Have a deep technical understanding of how to manage and troubleshoot Operating Systems with the ability to advise direct reports
* Present metrics and performance data to the Cloud Leadership team, Cloud delivery team and Customer Experience organization leadership teams as needed.
What you will bring
* Proven professional and technical experience with 5+ years of industry experience
* 3+ years of experience leading an operational team. Preference given to experience with Devops, automation, and/or SRE team; will also consider a proven leader of system administrators/engineers in a service-based organization
* Experience managing and implementing cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
* Proven experience implementing Platform as a Service models and documenting SLOs/SLIs
* Proven experience operating Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
* Proven experience operating configuration management through tools such as Chef, Ansible, Rundeck, Lambda
* Proven ability to lead across the business in order to achieve successful customer and company outcomes
* Experience managing a team toward defined goals, objectives and directives
* Exceptional leadership, presentation, time management, work management and prioritization skills are a must.
* Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills
* Strong ability to adapt and learn quickly
* Superior presentation, verbal and written skills, excellent customer service, as well as high attention to detail
