Overview:
The Business Office Manager ASC reports to the ASC Administrator and oversees all financial, administrative, and operational functions of the business office. This includes revenue cycle operations, medical records, medical staff privileging, facility credentialing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, surgical and procedural scheduling, staff leadership, contract management, financial reporting, human resources and patient relations. The Manager ensures compliance with regulations, collaborates closely with the ASC's accountant and other 3rd party contracted services related to the operations of the ASC business office, while supporting the overall financial integrity and efficiency of the center.

Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations
* Direct supervision of business office personnel
* Ensures that business office duties are carried out according to facility policies and procedures
* Works closely with the administrator/management company to promote the facility
* Responsible for the overall operations of the facility in the absence of the Administrator
Revenue Cycle & Financial Oversight
* Oversees all front-end and back-end revenue cycle functions to ensure compliance
* Works closely with billing team or billing company to ensure the efficient computer entry of all necessary demographics and insurance information to allow timely coding and billing
* Works closely with ASC Administrator to ensure appropriate financial records are accessible and complete (i.e. deposits, daily logs, bank reconciliation, etc.)
* Reviews time cards and payroll verification forms for accuracy and compliance with facility policies
* Contract management
Compliance & Administrative Management
* Recommends revisions in business office policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state rules and regulations
* Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's adopted compliance program
* Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures
* Remains current on all federal and state guidelines regarding business office policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state rules and regulations
* Maintenance of medical records and financial files in accordance with rules and regulations
* Facility credentialing and privileging
Physician & Staff Collaboration
* Serves as a positive liaison with physicians and their office personnel
* Monitors physician block time and makes recommendations for effective utilization to Clinical Manager and ASC Administrator
Qualifications:
* Education: 2 Year/associate degree, required. Degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field. 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of education requirement.
* 4 Year/bachelor's degree, preferred. Degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
* Experience: 2 years of supervisory or management experience in a medical setting, required. 3 years of healthcare business office or revenue cycle experience, required.
* 2 years of experience in an ASC business office, preferred.
* Additional Skills (required): Excellent communication and leadership abilities
* Strong understanding of ASC billing, coding, insurance verification, and payer contracts
* Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations
* Proficiency with practice management and electronic health record systems
* Basic knowledge of accounting procedures
* Experience in accounts receivable and accounts payable
* Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Automated Computer Billing Systems, Accounting Software, etc.)
* Strong ethical & moral character
* Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding, payer rules, and accounts payable processes.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
* Proficiency with ASC management software, billing systems, and financial tools.
* Additional Skills (preferred): Coding experience
* Strong managed-care expertise with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers
* Medical staff privileging and credentialing experience
* Payor negotiations and facility credentialing experience
* Contract management
