Overview:
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations of the Boise Retail, Outpatient, and Community Pharmacy. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications. The Pharmacy Manager directs a team of approximately 25 pharmacists, ensures compliance with regulatory and policy requirements, and drives quality improvement initiatives in a setting with operational responsibility for small facilities (Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Oversight
* Provide day-to-day management of pharmacy operations to ensure timely, accurate, and safe medication distribution.
* Monitor workflow to maintain optimal staffing levels, operational efficiency, and service excellence during retail operating hours (Monday-Saturday).
* Ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, and organizational policies and regulations.
Team Leadership & Development
* Lead, coach, mentor, and evaluate a team of 25 pharmacists.
* Provide ongoing guidance, counseling, and professional development opportunities.
* Recruit, hire, and retain highly skilled pharmacy staff.
Clinical & Patient Care Leadership
* Serve as a clinical mentor to pharmacists, providing direction on patient care best practices.
* When needed, function as a pharmacist in daily operations, including clinical and dispensing duties.
* Lead initiatives to improve medication use outcomes through evidence-based clinical pharmacy services.
Policy, Quality, & Performance Improvement
* Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
* Establish and monitor quality assurance standards and performance improvement activities.
* Drive initiatives that enhance patient safety, medication management, and pharmacy service delivery.
Financial & Strategic Management
* Develop, monitor, and manage the department's budget to meet financial goals.
* Collaborate with hospital and organizational leaders to optimize pharmacy services.
* Coordinate the implementation of strategic goals, projects, and programs that advance departmental objectives.
Collaboration & Communication
* Partner with interdisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, patient-centered care.
* Serve as a liaison between pharmacy leadership and other hospital or retail operations.
Qualifications
Education:
* Degree from an accredited pharmacy program (PharmD or equivalent).
Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years of pharmacy experience (MBA or completion of a Pharmacy Residency may be substituted for 2 years of experience).
* Previous pharmacy leadership or management experience strongly preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
* Valid Pharmacist License in the state of Idaho (or eligibility to obtain prior to start).
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.

* Provide leadership, guidance, counseling and continuing education to pharmacy team. Select, develop, coach, mentor, and assess performance of staff.
* Assists in the development and administration of departmental policies and procedures.
* Develop and implement quality assurance standards, performance improvement activities.
* May function as a pharmacist in the daily operation of the pharmacy, providing clinical and dispensing functions in accordance with needs of the department.
* Serve as clinical mentor and provide clinical pharmacy leadership to pharmacists in their daily patient care functions.
* Assure compliance of pharmacy services with policy and regulatory agencies.
* Develop, monitor and work effectively within established budget.
* Lead within organizational structures to improve medication use outcomes through clinical pharmacy services, staffing deployment and technology.
* Work closely with hospital leaders to optimize pharmacy services for patient care.
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary work teams.
* Coordinate implementation of strategic goals, projects, and programs affecting the department.

Qualifications:
