				Overview:

Zircar Ceramics in Florida, NY is now accepting applications for a Maintenance Technician. The ideal candidate will be able to fabricate, install and maintain company equipment and facilities while utilizing trade skills. 

Salary Range $24/hr - $28/hr

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Fabrication, installation and maintenance of Company equipment and facilities while utilizing trade skills, including but not limited to:
* Mechanical repair: Repair mechanical equipment and fixtures.
* Plumbing: Install and repair piping and ductwork for prints, sketches, or verbal instructions. 
* Electrical wiring: Hook up lights, outlets and equipment to electrical power.
* Ability to fabricate molds and custom fixtures from sketches or drawings.
* Knowledge of welding, cutting with a torch and soldering.

* Undertakes any other tasks deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

* Verbal and written comprehension skills normally acquired upon completion of high school.
* Strong manual skills including all typical machine shop tools, welding and wood working.
* Possession of a valid driver's license, with an "insurable" driving record so as to drive between Company facilities.
* The physical requirements of this position include, but are not limited to the ability to:
* Move various pieces of machinery and equipment (weighing up to 150 lb.) with the help of machinery and co-workers throughout Company facilities (including multi-level buildings, basements, attics and lofts.
* Climb to a height of up to 30' using ladders and scaffolds when repairing buildings and ovens.
* Travel between facilities and walk to all areas in them.
* Operate hand tools and equipment (e.g., electric hand drill, hammer drill, hand grinder, torches, lathe, electric sander, etc).
* Operate forklifts.
* Possess full manual dexterity.
* Stand for extended periods of time
* Work wearing dust masks and/or respirators and welding face shields as appropriate to the working conditions.
* Work outside in the winter for extended periods of time to perform snow and ice removal. This includes coming in early on weekdays and also working on weekends if needed to help clear the parking lots, entrances, and walkways so the plant and offices can open on-time and remain open during snow events.  Snow removal includes shoveling, scraping ice, operating a snow blower, spreading salt, and possibly operating a snowplow. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Exposure to fiberglass and ceramic fiber dust possible during the workday. Exposure to welding fumes, paints and thinners. Will be required to work on ladders and scaffolds and with high voltage electrical equipment.  The Plant Engineer is subject to both environmental conditions as activities occur inside and outside.
* Exposure to all hazards associated with all company processes performed in the manufacturing factories which include refractory ceramic fibers, nuisance dust, acids, bases, noise and sources of power.
