				Overview:

Maintenance Specialist
Marshalltown Hospital
Full-Time; 7:00A-3:30P - Monday-Friday, On-Call every 3rd week.

Performs a variety of general mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks, preventive maintenance as well as inspections, monitoring activities, servicing, repairs, and overhaul of equipment and facilities of the hospital. Plan, organize and complete complex projects.

Serves as a subject matter expert, with little to no supervision, in areas such as electrical, plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, Carpentry, etc. Works closely with Department Supervisor to assist with the daily planning of lower level projects as well.

Responsibilities:
Mechanical & Systems Maintenance
* Operates and maintains boilers, HVAC, and related systems; performs inspections and preventative maintenance.
* Identifies and resolves equipment issues such as leaks, faulty parts, or irregular operation.
* Logs system data and reports major repairs or safety concerns.
Electrical & Plumbing
* Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems; ensures compliance with codes.

* Performs routine plumbing work for heating, water, gas, and drainage systems.

* Supports upkeep of refrigeration and cooling equipment; maintains performance logs.

Facilities Support
* Assembles, installs, and repairs furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

* Services hospital-owned vehicles and maintenance tools; performs in-house repairs.

* Manages supply needs and coordinates tool/material requisitions.

Safety & Compliance
* Follows policies for safety, infection control, and environmental standards.

* Responds to alarms, drills, and emergency events to support continued operations.

* Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Team Collaboration
* Assists with projects, installations, and preventive maintenance planning.

* Supports training and orientation for department team members.

* Communicates updates, needs, and issues with leadership.

Qualifications:
Required:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Graduate of a trade or technical school, or equivalent experience and training.

* Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

* Ability to use standard tools and equipment required for the role.

Preferred:

* State license in HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical.
* Knowledge of building maintenance, including electricity, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, or welding.
* One to two years of computer experience.
