Overview: Our Facilities team oversees the offices we call home. We ensure our teams can connect, collaborate and innovate in a space built to support success. From securing our campuses to making sure our events go off without a hitch, Facilities is the human face of our company's well-oiled onsite operation. Responsibilities: EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanic in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD. This role is responsible for ensuring the assigned 24/7 critical facility are maintained and in good working order. Key Responsibilities: * Performs office moves and furniture reconfiguration * Delivers and assembles office furniture and/or workstations * Perform demolition of walls and/or flooring in preparation for repair and/or remodeling * Repairs, patches, finishes, and paints premises * Repairs furniture, receiver racks and other items as necessary * Performs landscaping, snow removal and general cosmetic grounds maintenance as needed * Transports trash, waste and recycling bins to the disposal area as needed * Sets up tables, chairs and audio-visual equipment for meetings Qualifications: Education and Experience: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED) * Five years of related experience, including the use of standard maintenance-related power tools and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience * Three years of Commercial and /or industrial maintenance experience required, with 1 year experience in a critical facility Preferred Qualifications: * Good written and oral communication skills * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals * Ability to write routine reports and correspondence * May require intermediate computer expertise, including use of database, word processing and spreadsheet applications * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Essential Job Duties: * Will be able to work in all-weather environments, extreme heat, extreme cold, snow, rain noise, hazards and atmospheric conditions (fumes, odor, dust, mist or poor ventilation) indoors, and outdoors * Typical Monday - Friday shift. May require nights, weekends, Holidays. * Must be able to sit, stand, crawl, and climb ladders for extended periods * Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs
