Live. Work. Explore. We are hiring a General Maintenance Lead as a part of our Engineering & Maintenance team in Yellowstone National Park!

Put your problem-solving skills to work. Our Engineering and Maintenance department does it all! From troubleshooting to preserving our rich history and being stewards of our iconic lodges, hands-on skills are needed to get the job done right. There are a variety of positions at our parks and lodges that range from skilled technicians to skilled trades.

Job Summary:

The General Maintenance Lead is a full-time, year-round position in the Old Faithful area of Yellowstone National Park.  The General Maintenance Lead resides in the Old Faithful and the only access to and from the Old Faithful location during the winter season is by snow coach or snowmobile. This position is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Manager and the Assistant Maintenance Manager with all aspects of maintenance and repair activities, while keeping a safe work environment

The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay:$23.00/hour
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities:

* Perform troubleshooting and employ the technical skills necessary for the safe operation, repair, maintenance, and seasonal opening/closing of Xanterra facilities, equipment, and assets.
* Perform, lead, track, and report work associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of structures and equipment, using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and work order logs.
* Collaborate and orchestrate repair and maintenance work as a team leader. Directing, guiding, and supporting staff through task completion as assigned by Supervisors.
* Use the appropriate tools and materials needed for the completion of work orders in a safe and efficient manner.
* Contribute to a safe, clean, healthy, respectful, and cooperative work environment.
* Communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with a polite demeanor and professional appearance.
* Self-motivated, able to work independently with limited supervision, and willing to occasionally work overtime and/or nights. 

Qualifications:

* Advanced mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills demonstrated by previous employment, education, or hobbies. 
* Demonstrate quality leadership ability to supervise, mentor, and train seasonal Maintenance staff.
* Innovation, professional curiosity, patience, and tenacity when faced with new or perplexing issues. 
* Be receptive to training and be able to quickly acquire new skills and knowledge. 
* Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, CMMS).
* Flexibility to adjust to new situations or changes in assignments or procedures. 
* A working knowledge of applicable OSHA and NFPA safety regulations and requirements, including the ability to recognize and correct unsafe work practices or equipment installations which do not meet Code. 

Physical Requirements include:

* May require the use of respiratory protection and compliance with the applicable respiratory protection program regulations, including restrictions on the length and location of facial hair.
* May require work in confined spaces and permit-required confined spaces.
* Able to walk up to a half mile over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, stand, bend, kneel and crawl in all types of weather conditions at elevations exceeding 6,000 ft.
* Capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
* Possess physical stamina to perform heavy labor in an outside environment.
* Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver's license with a good driving record for the past 3 years.
