				Overview:

Bowhead is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux System Administrator SME to join our dynamic IT team. This is a 100% onsite position located in Norco, CA. As a Linux Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of our critical Linux-based infrastructure. Experience working within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment is highly desirable.

This position is 100% onsite.

Responsibilities:

*  Systems Administrator administers and supports daily operational requirements.

*  Linux Systems Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu) including operating system installation, patching, and security hardening.

*  Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all Linux-related issues, providing guidance and support to other team members.

*  Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize system performance and stability.

*  Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data, including access controls, intrusion detection, and vulnerability scanning.

*  Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.

*  Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex system issues in a timely and effective manner.

*  Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

*  Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams (e.g., networking, security, development) to ensure seamless integration of systems and services.

*  Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

*  Compliance: Ensure systems comply with relevant security standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

*  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.

*  Seven plus (7+) years of experience as a System Administrator with a strong focus on Linux systems.

*  Deep understanding of Linux operating systems, including kernel configuration, system services, and security principles.

*  Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python.

*  Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).

*  Security+ certification or equivalent.

*  Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

*  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

*  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

*  Desired:

*  Experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment.

*  Experience with security compliance frameworks (e.g., STIGs, NIST).

*  Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).

*  Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

*  Relevant certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), CompTIA Linux+).

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the minimum Secret level.

Physical Demands:

*  Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

*  Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

*  Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
