Responsibilities:
Our Enterprise Technology (ET) department is seeking a Software Engineer to work on our ET Property & Casualty Auto/Fire team. This an AWESOME OPPORTUNITY to be a part of our Policy Center Data and Core Services (PCDCS) Data work.
Your Responsibilities May Include:
* Applies skills, tools, security processes, applications, environments and programming language(s) to complete complex assignments
* Applies advanced engineering practices to design full-stack applications using industry-adopted languages and frameworks
* Diagnoses and resolves complex problems/issues
* Provides mentorship, technical guidance, training, and may delegate work to others
* Maintains advanced understanding in software engineering topics, including classes, functions, security, containers, version control, CI/CD, and unit tests
* Maintains advanced understanding in programming (e.g. Java, JavaScript), and database functionality (e.g.SQL, Non-SQL)
* Maintains advanced understanding in compute environments, including but not limited to Linux, Hadoop, Public Cloud, and containers
Qualifications:
We Are Looking For Candidates With:
* Experience working with AWS Glue, Spark
* Experience with Typescript, Javascript, Python, Terraform
* Experience with SQL and extracting data
* Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and CI/CD systems, preferably with Gitlab CI
* Experience in testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, and Artillery
* Familiarity with Data services includes DynamoDB and Aurora.
* Interest to learn and adapt to Gen AI technologies; Open AI and Anthropic models

* Applies advanced understanding regarding technology trends/changes, best practices, and processes to complete assignments and influence the direction of product solutions
* Applies advanced understanding of product design, data design and movement and test to ensure quality outcomes
* Leverages an advanced understanding of the State Farm organizational structure to navigate the organization
* Provides mentorship, technical guidance, training, and may delegate work to others
* May take on several simultaneous work stories or focus on a single complex story
* Understands, supports, and helps define the vision and direction for the product development
* Champions and leads others to design and develop for exceptional user experience
* May have membership and engage with technical groups in the organization, like dev guilds
* Leverages inner source best practices to encourage code discoverability and collaboration across the enterprise
