What you can expect from this role

We are seeking a Lead Registered Nurse to join our St. Luke's Children's Cancer Institute (SLCCI) Pediatric Clinical Oncology team in Boise! St. Luke's Children's Hospital and St. Luke's Cancer Institute are partners in Idaho's only pediatric cancer program and only accredited hemophilia center!

This RN Lead position is designed to play a pivotal role in supporting the successful integration and development of new and existing clinical staff in Pediatric Oncology. The RN Lead will serve as a clinical expert, mentor and educational resource - identifying learning needs, facilitating training, and fostering professional growth. This position helps create a consistent, high-quality experience for new team members while promoting a culture of continuous learning and nursing excellence.

* Part-time or Full-time option (0.8-1.0 FTE)
* Schedule: 8-hour shifts, variable days M-F (no nights or weekends!)
* Certification pay available (ex. OCN, CPHON, CPN)
* Key Responsibilities: 
* Education (~40%-45%): lead onboarding and precepting of new nurses, coordinate continuing education opportunities, and develop staff competencies
* Patient Care (~25%): provide staffing coverage in chemo infusion, primary nursing and triage as needed
* Clinical Practice and Operations (~20%-30%) assist with clinic schedule and staff meetings, and support ongoing efforts to standardize care across inpatient and outpatient settings

Minimum qualifications for this role

* Education: Nursing Degree
* Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of RN experience, including at least two (2) years in Pediatric Oncology
* Licenses/Certifications: 
* Current RN licensure from the State of Practice 
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross

Responsibilities:

The Lead Registered Nurse is responsible for providing technical/clinical support to one or more departments/sites.

* identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.

* Responsible for ensuring patient care needs are met through effective management of staffing resources and operations.

* Assists or May be Responsible for scheduling, communication, and clinical decision making. Works with staff to promote resolution of conflicts and counsels staff when clinical practice standards are not met.

* Assists with budget planning and clinical needs assessments.

* Responsible for training or assignment of training.

* Manages care of patients.

* Documents care Based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/ or clinical priorities

* Advocates for evidence-Based practice care standards and Supports adoption of evidence-Based practices and innovations in care delivery.

* Provides patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model.

* other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Education: Bachelor's of Nursing Degree 
* Experience: 3 years' experience 
* Licenses/Certifications: Current RN licensure from the State of Practice and Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
