The Boise St. Luke's Cancer Institute (SLCI) is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to cancer patients, offering a spectrum of services from early detection to survivorship support. Within SLCI, the Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program is a beacon of comprehensive care and cellular therapy for individuals battling leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic disorders, and other blood cancers. Distinctively, Boise SLCI hosts Idaho's sole BMT and Hematologic Malignancies Program, ensuring patients access to the most cutting-edge therapies in their community.

What you can expect from this role

We are looking for a Lead Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Hematologic Malignancies team! This position is a unique opportunity to join a state-of-the-art facility with a warm, family feeling. 

This RN Lead position is designed to play a pivotal role in supporting the successful integration and development of new and existing clinical staff on the BMT/Heme Malignancies team. The RN Lead will serve as a clinical expert, mentor and educational resource - identifying learning needs, facilitating training, and fostering professional growth. This position helps create a consistent, high-quality experience for new team members while promoting a culture of continuous learning and nursing excellence.

* Full-time (0.9 FTE) or Part-time (0.8 FTE) options
* Full-time: 4x9-hour shifts weekly or alternating weeks of 5x8-hour and 4x8-hour shifts
* Part-time: 4x8-hour shifts weekly

* Monday-Friday schedule - 4-day schedules include one consistent day off each week (no nights!)
* Certification pay available (ex. OCN, BMTCN)
* Sign-on bonus eligible for new hires!
* Key Responsibilities: 
* Education (~40%-45%): lead onboarding and precepting of new nurses, coordinate continuing education opportunities, and develop staff competencies
* Patient Care (~25%): provide staffing coverage in chemo infusion, primary nursing and triage as needed
* Clinical Practice and Operations (~15%-20%): attend clinical practice meetings and tailor information to BMT/Heme Malignancies practices, develop standard workflows and documentation practices
* Quality (~10%): participate and assist in quality initiatives and be a co-SMART champion

Minimum qualifications for this role

* Education: Nursing Degree
* Experience: Three (3) + years' RN experience
* Licenses/Certifications: 
* Current RN licensure from the State of Practice 
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross

* Preferred: Two (2) + years of Oncology experience

Responsibilities:

The Lead Registered Nurse is responsible for providing technical/clinical support to one or more departments/sites.

* identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.

* Responsible for ensuring patient care needs are met through effective management of staffing resources and operations.

* Assists or May be Responsible for scheduling, communication, and clinical decision making. Works with staff to promote resolution of conflicts and counsels staff when clinical practice standards are not met.

* Assists with budget planning and clinical needs assessments.

* Responsible for training or assignment of training.

* Manages care of patients.

* Documents care Based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/ or clinical priorities

* Advocates for evidence-Based practice care standards and Supports adoption of evidence-Based practices and innovations in care delivery.

* Provides patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model.

Qualifications:

* Education: Bachelor's of Nursing Degree 
* Experience: 3 years' experience 
* Licenses/Certifications: Current RN licensure from the State of Practice and Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
