Responsibilities:
* Waters outdoor plants, lawn areas, trees, sHRubs, and flowers that are not taken care of by the outdoor irrigation systems.
* Operates/maintains irrigation system according to established policies and procedures.
* Keeps flowerbeds weed-free and mulched as needed per season. Plants annual flowers in the Spring of each year and removes in the Fall.
* Trims all plants, trees, and sHRubs as needed per season.
* Uses all chemicals and fertilizers in a safe and effective manner.
* Has the ability and knowledge to recognize plant diseases for treatment.
* Removes snow and ice from sidewalks, parking lots, stairs, ramp ways, exits, barge facilities, etc.
* Effectively responds to supervisor's requests in all areas of customer interaction and customer concerns.
* Promotes a positive environment for all customers and employees to encourage the return visit of customers and achieve job satisfaction for all employees.
* Performs miscellaneous other tasks such as operation of power trimmers and grass cutting; is licensed to drive vehicles such as dump truck, mule, pick-up truck, toolcat, bobcat, etc.
* Orders all parts and supplies for landscaping jobs.
* Obtains bids from outside contractors for special projects.
* Notifies Director of Environmental Services of any problem or crisis that may arise.
* Leads Assistant Landscaper in daily duties. Assigns and reviews work for proper completion.
* Provides positive communication and uses Red Carpet Training skills with every patron and co-worker.
* Performs duties in a safe manner; reports any potential safety hazards to management staff.
* Performs any reasonable, temporarily assigned job duties outside the position's job description, where, in the Company's judgment, those duties are necessary in the interest of efficiency, productivity, or guest service.
Qualifications:
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. General knowledge of plant pathology and insect and disease recognition would be helpful.
* Must be able to read, write legibly, understand, and speak English.
* Ability to tolerate second-hand smoke, noise, and bright lights.
* Ability to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environment.
* Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.
* Available to work required schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
* Employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
* The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
