Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Responsibilities include:
* Must be able to work varied shifts and varied days off, including weekends and holiday periods.
* Works with the culinary team to develop food and wine pairings.
* Manages the daily activities necessary for maintenance and promotion of the organization's wine collection.
* Partner with the work-and-study based exchange visitor programs, teaching serving techniques, table and time management.
* Formulate operating procedures and assist in creating policies, procedures, and training guides for daily tasks and duties.
* Assist members of the F&B and culinary leadership teams, cross training on duties such as ordering, stocking, training, and behind the bar duties and responsibilities.
* Have a strong understanding of the inventory and the ability to manage inventory.
* Learn and follow all beverage recipes and adhere to the established pour policy.
* Operate within full compliance with liquor laws and regulations.
* Adhere to and enforce all control systems.
* Learn the prices of all drinks.
* Collect payment and promptly settle all cash and charge transactions.
* Requisition liquor and other supplies, when needed with supervisor's approval.
* Ask for identification of all suspected under-age patrons.
* Responsible for knowing the types, glasses, and brand names of the products we offer. Should be familiar with a substitute item to offer a guest in the event an item is ordered that we do not carry.
* Inform supervisor of guests who appear to be intoxicated.
* Responsible for the handling of Company funds through cash transactions on the Micros System.
* Follow all cash handling procedures as listed in the Food & Beverage Manual.
* Always conduct yourself in a manner that reflects a positive, professional image for Ameristar Casino Black Hawk.
* Practice and observe safety rules and regulations and encourage others to do so.
* Handle the chemicals for the glass washing machine in a safe manner.
* Responsible and accountable for all cash variances +/- $10.00.
* Responsible for the cleanliness of your workstation/bar.
* Must serve cocktail servers; serve them only at their stations.
* Keep the bar completely stocked for the next shift.
* Responsible for informing beverage manager on duty of any problems.
Qualifications:
* Two (2) years' experience as a server in a dining establishment.
* An outgoing personality with interest in guest hospitality.
* Knowledge of upselling techniques.
* Exceptional work habits.
* Knowledgeable of menu to include alcoholic beverages that are available.
* Strong customer service skills
* Ability to sustain a high level of professionalism.
* Ability to maintain a high level of energy and take a proactive and strategic approach to dealing with guest issues.
* Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with guests at all levels.
* Highly organized and detail-oriented
* Have and keep updated all current work cards: TIPS Training.
