If so, AmTrust is looking to add a talented experienced Data Scientist to their growing Data Science & AI Team with specific commercial insurance experience. Responsibilities:

As an experienced Data Scientist, you will lead projects and unveil insights in our data that will allow us to improve our claims decision-making process both at an operational and strategic level.  You will use the latest machine learning algorithms to develop predictive models to help us predict the development of claims more accurately, handle claims more effectively, and understand and serve our customers more thoroughly.

Qualifications:

Qualified applicants would have an MA/MSC/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics or other quantitative field, and at least 5 years' experience in the following skill areas:

* Developing and implementing predictive models across the life cycle of the claim for commercial insurance (FNOL, claim severity, triage, settlement, litigation support, etc.)
* Knowledge and familiarity with embedding into the models and claim applications various 3rd party commercial insurance data sources
* Python and R
* Machine learning algorithms (i.e. GLM, Boosting, Deep Learning, etc.)
* Model performance measures and validation techniques (i.e. K-fold cross-validation, train/test split, etc.)
* SQL and relational databases (both transactional and analytical environments)
* Deploying predictive models into production
* Collaborative development and version control systems (i.e. Git)
* Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
* Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
* Analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
* Excellent attention to detail

Bonus points for experience in:

* Strong leadership and managerial capabilities
* Familiarity with cloud environments and services
* Developing effective monitoring of predictive models' performance
* Experience with supporting other business functions (e.g. Loss control, Operations, Marketing, Pricing)
* Unix-like operating systems and comfort in the shell environment (i.e. Bash)
* Deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow or PyTorch and associated high-level API's like Keras
* numpy, pandas, sklearn, matplotlib
* dplyr, data.table, ggplot2
* Web-application development (Javascript, Node, Flask, Shiny, etc.)
* Web-scraping

The expected salary range for this role is $126,200-$175,000/year.
