CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group is dedicated to delivering customized care based on the unique needs of our patients and is recognized as a Best Place to Work in Kentucky for two years in a row (2023-2024).

CHI Saint Joseph Health is part of CommonSpirit Health, a non-profit, Catholic health system dedicated to advancing health for all people. With approximately 175,000 team members and 25,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians.

Our commitment to serve the common good is delivered through the dedicated work of thousands of physicians, advanced practice clinicians, nurses, and staff; through clinical excellence delivered across a system of 140 hospitals and more than 2,200 care centers serving 24 states.

Responsibilities:

CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group is searching for Full- or Part-Time In-House Laborists to join our team at Saint Joseph East Women's Hospital in Lexington. Our Community Hospital is well equipped with 2 OB ED beds, 12 L&D/AP rooms, 3 L&D ORs, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, a Level III NICU, and Dedicated In-House OB Anesthesia. Currently, the Laborist Program supports 15 delivering providers from 5 local practices. Our hospital performs an average of 140 deliveries per month, though most are covered by our community providers, with only about 5% covered by the Laborist. Though we are able to provide excellent care for most patients, appropriate cases such as critical maternal co-morbidities, fetal anomalies, and extreme prematurity are transferred to a higher level-of-care. Epic EMR.

The role of the Laborist includes:

* Evaluation and disposition of OB ED patients. Approximately 200 OB ED visits/month.
* Stabilization and management of OB emergencies for community providers in clinic or taking call from home
* Cover vaginal deliveries for community providers who are unavailable due to patient care or unable to make it to the hospital in time. This represents only about 5% of all deliveries.
* First assist C-sections
* Courtesy labor management tasks such as strip review, AROM, Cook catheter placement, etc. for community providers in clinic or taking call from home
* Management of unattached OB patients
* GYN consults on unattached patients. NO GYN SURGERY REQUIRED. Consults who are surgical candidates will be discussed with and handed off to the on-call physician.
* NO CLINIC OR CALL. Opportunity for hybrid role may be considered for interested candidates.

Expectations:

* 7 (full-time) or 3.5 (part-time) 24-hr shifts per 28 day block. Equivalent number of 12-hr shifts is an option for interested candidates.
* ABOG Board Certified or Eligible
* Valid and unrestricted Kentucky state medical license or license-eligible

Benefits:

* Competitive hourly rate and signing bonus
* Excellent working relationship with community providers and nursing staff
* Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance
* Paid malpractice insurance/tail coverage
* CME allowance
