Responsibilities:
Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our busy Regional Microbiology team as a Lab Assistant Tech. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our laboratory's mission to deliver accurate and timely diagnostic testing to our patients.
* Will process Micro samples of all specimen types onto appropriate media.
* Prepare and sterilize laboratory equipment and supplies.
* Collect, process, and label patient samples in accordance with established protocols.
* Perform routine laboratory procedures, including plating, streaking, and inoculation.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation of all laboratory activities.
* Assist with the preparation of reagents and media.
* Clean and maintain laboratory work areas and equipment.
* Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
* Assist the Clinical Lab Scientist and Medical Lab Techs as needed
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalency.
* One (1) year laboratory clerical and/or phlebotomy experience in an acute care facility required
* Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory setting is preferred.
* Familiarity with laboratory equipment, including microscopes, incubators, and autoclaves.
* Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
* Phlebotomy training must meet needs of newborn through geriatric populations.
* California Phlebotomy Technician License (CT Phlebotomy) required.
* American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (AHA BLS) required.
* Fire Safety Card (CT Fire Card) required. (must obtain 90 days from hire date)
