Are you detail-oriented, compassionate, and passionate about patient care? Join our team as a Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist I, where you will play a vital role in supporting high-quality diagnostic services and making a difference every day.

The Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist I is responsible for the operation and organization of the Central Collection department while supporting the philosophy and objectives established by the Board of Directors and Management Team. This role includes performing a variety of specimen collection and processing procedures, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all aspects of laboratory work.

In this position, you will perform venous and capillary specimen collections with precision, maintain strict attention to detail in labeling and handling samples, and follow all technical and laboratory procedures required to meet regulatory standards, including those set by voluntary and government agencies. You will also play an important role in maintaining workflow within the department, solving practical problems, resolving conflicts when they arise, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities:

Phlebotomy

* Performs venous, arterial and capillary blood collection, processing and delivery of specimens to departments within Trinity Laboratory. Consistently demonstrates attention to detail in following protocol for patient, sample and identification and labeling. 
* Educates others and maintains knowledge of departmental functions, policies and procedures including AIDET and Focus value.
* Assists with the training new employees, being helpful supportive in the teaching of new associates.

Quality Assurance

* Complies with procedures and services, including QA guidelines, in consultation with the assigned laboratory supervisor. 
* Performs technical procedures within specified turnaround time for assigned area.
* Is responsible for executing and monitoring technical practices of the department in order to meet necessary standards, recommendations and requirements of voluntary and government agencies (ie. CAP, JCAHO)

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.  Phlebotomy course, Medical Assistant, Associate of Arts, preferred.

Experience: Experience with phlebotomy, preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Communication skills including reading, writing & speaking fluent english, Adaptability, customer/patient focused, Interpersonal skills and Self-development.

Lifting Requirements:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
