3rd Shift; 8:30pm-6:30am; every other weekend/holiday rotation

Join our dynamic clinical laboratory team as a Laboratory Assistant Coordinator, where precision meets purpose and every improvement you make has a direct impact on patient care. In this pivotal role, you'll collaborate closely with Laboratory Assistants and Phlebotomists to enhance and streamline processes across the entire testing cycle-from pre-analytic preparation to analytic performance and post-analytic reporting. You'll take the lead in refining specimen handling and retention practices, strengthening quality control measures, supporting point-of-care testing, and ensuring accurate, timely result reporting in full compliance with CAP standards.

Responsibilities:

* Balances administrative leadership (up to 20%) with hands-on clinical and phlebotomy responsibilities (80%)
* Supports daily operations of the phlebotomy department and assists leadership in meeting institutional goals
* Drives process improvement across pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic workflows to ensure accuracy and timeliness
* Ensures high-quality patient care by maintaining timely, accurate clinical information and strong provider satisfaction
* Assists in resolving complex operational and phlebotomy-related issues using available resources and expertise
* Leads and supports staff development, including training, onboarding, competency evaluation, and performance reviews
* Promotes clear, consistent communication with staff and management to build trust and alignment
* Recommends and implements policies, procedures, and workflow changes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
* Ensures compliance with regulatory standards (CAP, JCAHO, HIPAA, OSHA) and maintains quality assurance practices
* Upholds organizational values, maintains required certifications and competencies, and supports compliance with healthcare regulations

Qualifications:

Required: 

* High School Diploma

Experience:

* 3-5 years of hospital phlebotomy experience

License/Certifications:

* ASCP certified or equivalent, or certified within 6 months of hire
