Overview: Lab Support Tech This position supports a 24/7 service environment. PRN Team members must be able to work rotating or variable shifts. **NO CERTIFICATION OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED** Responsibilities: * Specimen Processing: Register, order, and accession specimens using lab and hospital systems; verify patient information and ensure test accuracy and compliance with coding and Medicare policies * Specimen Collection: Perform phlebotomy and specimen handling, including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, organizing, storing, and preparing for transport per DOT and IATA regulations * Critical Thinking: Evaluate specimen integrity and appropriateness; resolve issues and cancel or adjust orders as needed * Communication: Provide guidance on specimen collection, lab processes, and results; monitor orders to ensure timely collection * Training: Train, mentor, and evaluate students and new staff Qualifications: Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Training as a unit clerk, medical assistant, medical secretary, or phlebotomist is preferred. Coursework in biology and/or chemistry is considered. Previous employment in a medical setting, in computer operations, and/or with telephone demands is preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
