				Overview:

The LPN assists in providing services to schools that work toward the good health and wellness of students and the improvement of health conditions in general. Perform professional nursing duties as defined by Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Ohio Department of Health and in accordance with acceptable nursing practice guidelines. The LPN provides care for students grade K-12 within a school setting, under the direction of a RN Care Manager, and in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing Law and Rule. (Sections 4723-4-01, Ohio Administrative Code or OAC, 4723-4-04, OAC, 4723-4-06, OAC, and 4723-4-08 OAC).

0.8 FTE working 5 days/week during the school year at KIPP Academy, summers off
Responsibilities:

*  Staff the school clinic and attend to students' health care needs.

*  Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.

*  Dispense, record, and administer medications according to school policy, under supervision of an RN.

*  Receive and carry out orders from medical doctors.

*  Report student related health problems to an RN.

*  Maintain student health records, including immunizations.

*  Assist in setting up school clinic space and end of year duties.

*  Maintain clinic cleanliness and supply inventory.

*  Under the directions of an RN, perform required state screenings.

*  Act as a liaison between the home, the school and the health care provider.

Qualifications:

Education: Must be a graduate of an approved school of practical or vocational nursing.

Licensure: Must be licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Ohio.

Certifications: Current CPR/AED certification.

Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated competence in specified nursing care. Positive, effective, and age appropriate skills when working with patients, families, physicians and other health care team members. Excellent organizational skills and time management skills. Experience 1+ years of pediatric experience preferred.

Note: Regular, reliable and consistent attendance is an essential job function. Employees are expected to perform work as scheduled.
