Overview:
The Kitchen Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all kitchen equipment and machinery in a hotel or restaurant setting. This role ensures the smooth operation of all kitchen appliances and systems, providing a safe and functional environment for kitchen staff.
Responsibilities:
* Schedule and perform preventive maintenance (PM) on equipment.
* Operate and maintain low-pressure boilers for the hot water system.
* Operate and maintain additional vessels as needed for hot water, kitchen steam, and air conditioning systems.
* Assist mechanics and external contractors with the repair of hotel property and equipment.
* Repair and maintain HVAC systems and commercial kitchen equipment.
* Repair and maintain the swimming pool and related pool equipment.
* Complete all assigned work orders and daily tasks promptly.
* Receive instructions for house calls via radio.
* Possess a thorough understanding of Omni's fire alarm procedures and emergency protocols.
* Have a comprehensive understanding of Omni hotel rules and regulations.
* Maintain a strong knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
* Pay Range: $25.00- $28.00 per hour.
* Previous maintenance experience required; hotel experience and training preferred.
* 2 years minimum of hotel and/or commercial building maintenance experience preferred.
* 1 year of commercial kitchen experience preferred; commercial refrigeration experience is a plus.
* Previous experience responding to emergency situations is required.
* Strong communication skills, attention to detail, time management, computer proficiency, and a focus on guest satisfaction are essential.
* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
* Ability to crawl for short distances.
* Ability to bend, reach overhead, squat, and kneel for prolonged periods.
* Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
* Ability to use step stools and ladders.
* Knowledge of electrical systems, low voltage controls, plumbing, and gas systems.
* Experience in reading and interpreting schematics.
* Must have flexible availability to work weekends and holidays.
