As a Software Engineer, you will report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager and you be responsible for design, code, and increase different parts (microservices) of our research product. It will be up to you to convert product vision and requirements into the finished product.

Avalara is a global company with development teams across multiple locations. We are a phenomenal team working in an open, collaborative environment that makes taxes and compliance less taxing to deal with.

This position is fully remote, however we will only accept candidates from Brazil.

Responsibilities:

* You will work on diverse projects that make tax research less taxing and more efficient for businesses around the globe;
* You will help update PHP websites to integrate with modern Golang services and Vue-based interfaces;
* Collaborate with colleagues in the United States and Brazil;
* Leverage AI copilots, code generation tools, and assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AmazonQ, ChatGPT) to improve coding efficiency, testing, documentation, and prototyping.
* Continuously upskill in AI-related technologies applicable to daily work.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field;
* Advanced English skills;
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in software design;
* Proficiency in a production programming language such as C#, Java, JavaScript, Golang, Python, PHP;
* Experience approaching a problem from different angles, analyzing pros and cons of different solutions and to be and critical production issues;
* Solid experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and other data interchange formats;
* Experience with AWS services and managing CI/CD pipelines;
* Experience with a relational database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
