Junior Building Custodian

				Overview:

This is a provisional appointment.

Under supervision, performs a variety of ordinary maintenance tasks of a semiskilled nature to buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities:

* Performs window cleaning, interior and exterior. 
* Cleans walls and lavatories.
* Moves furniture; sweeps and mops floors.
* May make adjustments and repairs to toilets, sinks, and drinking fountain mechanisms.
* May change bulbs.
* May paint and perform minor carpentry work.
* Cuts grass and trims bushes; strips, washes, and waxes floors.
* Performs all cleaning duties involved with buildings and grounds, shovels snow. 
* Uses floor buffers, lawn mowers, weed whackers, snow blowers, and plow equipment that do not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). 
* Picks up refuse around grounds and performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

* Applicants must have knowledge of cleaning methods and materials. 
* Must be in good physical condition.
* Must be able to understand and follow simple oral instructions.
*  Must be self-motivated. 
*  Must have the ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.  
* Massachusetts driver's license preferred. 

THIS POSITION COULD BE ASSIGNED TO ANY BPD WORK LOCATION. 

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK REQUIRED.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST AND PHYSICAL REQUIRED.

BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.
